I think most creative professionals, regardless of industry, are always on the lookout for what Tenacious D coined as “The Search for Inspirado.” Inspirado, more commonly known as inspiration, comes in many forms. Painting, Music, Architecture, and the countless other areas that promote so-called creative lifestyles are abound in this world. The bottom line is that you should do something that inspires you. I know everyone can’t just go out and quit their day jobs and start doing what it is that they would rather be doing for a living, but you can start small. Stay up an extra hour or two at night, or work through your lunch break to get some personal work done. While Beautiful Demise is still a very young Indie Clothing company, we started screen printing shirts in a dingy basement until we could afford to move into a proper Brick and Mortar shop. While having attended several art classes during college, one particular passage stands out from one of the art history books I was forced to read. From Leonardo da Vinci, “It had long since come to my attention that people of accomplishment rarely sat back and let things happen to them. They went out and happened to things.”
Sometimes in order to be productive you need to change the scenery for a bit. It was a great day to hit a few bad shots before getting back to work. I think between both of us, we might have had a par. I’ll go ahead and blame it on the poor conditions of the greens. Fore!
Summer has come and gone and Fall has decided to grace us with its presence. Fall is always welcomed with open arms in the Greenville, SC area. As most native South Carolinians already know, Summer brings a swath of scorching heat waves with it that are either avoided all together by spending days inside an air-conditioned alcove, or perhaps cooling off in an overly chlorinated swimming pool. Here at the Beautiful Demise shop, we are thoroughly enjoying the milder climate and have been quite busy working on our first seasonal release. Things have been coming along quite well with our BD Denim line, and we have been chopping away at a few new items that will be released with our Winter/Spring ’12-13 release. Did we mention that Beautiful Demise will be releasing both a ladies and a guys denim line? It’s true. While we will have to start small, we will be releasing 2 different styles of both guys and ladies denim jeans. We still have to get busy on finishing up samples of our ladies denim, but we are steadily chopping wood and will continue to work on refining details until everything is “proper”. Stay tuned for more updates from Beautiful Demise. Beautiful Demise is an indie clothing brand based in Greenville, SC. Stop by our shop to pick up some freshly printed tshirts at 215 W. Antrim Dr. Unit A, Greenville, SC.
Enjoy some pics of a recent trip the Beautiful Demise crew made to Ray’s Indoor Bike Park in Cleveland, Ohio. This place is a whirlwind of fun and should definitely be on your to-do list if you’re in the Cleveland, OH area. It’s probably safe to say that I’ll be going here every year as long as this place is around.
There just doesn’t seem to be enough time in the day to get everything done in the timeframe you always envision. No worries though, the Beautiful Demise crew is continuing to Chop Wood daily so we can get our Denim Jean Line, amongst other things, ready for release in a timely fashion. Also, we’ve been steadily working on some “proper” cut-and-sew items that will drop with our first official season release that we are really excited about. We can’t wait to show them off, but we still have lots of decisions to make, so please stay tuned and sign up for the newsletter at the bottom of our website to stay up to date with the latest seasonal releases. Remember, Beautiful Demise clothing is 100% handmade in the USA. All our clothing is hand printed by us in our Greenville, SC printshop. Stop by and see us and pick up an American made graphic tee.
Check out some photos of some seriously fun riding spots across the midwestern United States. I recently had the opportunity to stop by all these spots brifely and snapped a few shots with the camera phone. One of the spots is the Extreme Skatepark in Louisville, KY so that technically isn’t midwest, but you get the picture. It doesn’t matter if you rock 4 wheels, 2 wheels, or if you happen to be a Fruit Booter, aka Roller Bladder, get off you duff and ride something.
I was going through a few photos this weekend and found a few shots we took of an excellent graffiti spot that we visited during a past weekend jaunt to the Charleston, SC area. I won’t reveal its exact location, but if you’re ever looking for something to do in the area, it makes for a good treasure hunt. The graphics are pretty ridiculous to say the least. Enjoy the aerosol art. BD Brand as much as you can!
The Beautiful Demise crew recently made a quick trip to Burbank California to hang with some good friends and attend the Agenda tradeshow in Long Beach, CA. I’ll probably save the details from the Agenda Tradeshow for another post since we’re still going through all the catalogues and such that we picked up at the show. Needless to say, we had a great time and actually got a little work done in the process. One of the highlights of the trip was a little music festival that we attended out in the hills somewhere near Burbank, CA. It was probably the perfect day for good tunes, salty drinks, and a little tomfoolery. Check out some of the pictures we snapped from the mountainside music festival.
Lately the Beautiful Demise crew has taken some much needed vacation time to hit a few different beaches for some quality family time. It’s pretty crazy to think that the world’s oceans cover roughly 71% of the surface and most of us rarely actually see the ocean on a regular basis. As much as we enjoy being beach bums, we eventually made it back to Greenville, SC to finish up some current projects. We just got back samples of some custom handmade pocket tees that we have been working on that we think will turn out great. We still have a few things to tweak, but it shouldn’t be too long before we have some solid pocket tees available in the shop. Check out some of the beach pics as well as our pocket tee samples that we are working on.
We have been working on several new illustrations lately that are getting pretty damn close to getting printed. We just released our latest tee called “The Concussion ” and it’s available in the shop, check it out here. As usual, it’s ridiculously comfy and printed with human hands exclusively from Beautiful Demise.
Here is a sneak peek at one of the illustrations we have finished working on and are just about ready to hit the press with this one. We just got some new vnecks in to play around with that aren’t quite as deep as some of the vnecks we have printed in the past. They are more of a smaller conservative vneck that guys and girls can both wear. More to come…
As we have mentioned previously, the BD crew have been steadily making improvements to the Beautiful Demise storefront to make everything look nice and proper. We can officially say that phase II is complete. We finished laying down our new floor and moulding as well as installing all the new shelving to display the latest BD streetwear tees. We have been pecking away at improvements for several months now so it’s finally starting to come together. As always, we aren’t quite done yet but are pretty damn happy with how the shop is shaping up. Stop by the shop if you are in the area and check out the digs. Freshen up your wardrobe with a high quality Beautiful Demise handmade tshirt.
This past week Beautiuful Demise made a quick trip to the snowshoe downhill bike park in West Virginia. Luckily we didn’t run into any Hatfields or McCoys while we were there so everything went according to plan. We didn’t get to stay long, but it was fun while it lasted. As much as I complain about driving around in West Virginia, it really is a beautiful place. With that said, check out some of the pictures from the downhill bike park fun factory. Random factoid, Snowshoe bikepark has the longest vertical drop trails on the east coast. As far as east coast downhill riding goes, it’s pretty hard to get any better than this place. Until we meet again.
